I needed a pick-me-up the other day.
I bet you could use one right now.
I also KNOW that you don’t need to add more things to your to-do list!
How do we take care of ourselves, get the much needed pick-me-up, do those things I call “elevating” in our lives - without it turning into another list of things we need to do?
The first step is to realize something very small can elevate your life, giving you just the pick-me-up you need!
Here’s an example, I write with purple pens that are “rollerball” style, not ballpoint style. I love the color and I love how ink “flows” through the pen. Writing with a pen that gives me pleasure elevates my life… if I let it.
I have to let it. In other words, I need to notice that I’m using this purple pen that I love. If I don’t take the moment to notice, I’ll miss the pleasure. I miss the elevation.
Here’s another example: I hate inexpensive paper towels that don’t tear easily and don’t absorb much. I’m a Bounty woman! When I go to someone’s house who uses cheap ones, boy, do I notice it!! It reminds me to be grateful and notice the pleasure I get every time I tear off a super absorbent paper towel at home!
We tend to think we need big things in order to make a difference in our lives. If you’re tired, you need a vacation. If you don’t like your home office, you need to remodel.
As much as I like big things…. When we elevate a few small things and take a moment to notice how much more we like writing with our favorite pen or using our favorite paper towel, it impacts us in a positive way.
If you can’t go on vacation, take a nap! Or block off one day to yourself, even a half a day will make a huge difference.
If you can’t give your home office a makeover, find the pen you love to write with and buy a whole box! Order pretty file folders from Amazon.
Small upgrades elevate our lives and don’t create a list of things to do that feel impossible, life vacations and remodeling jobs.
Give yourself the gift of a small elevation and feel the big results!
